British clinician Kate Wildt held an online public lecture organized by the Faculty of Medicine of the Central University of Europe

On April 17, 2025, at the invitation of the Faculty of Medicine of the Central University of Europe, British clinician Cathy Wield, as part of an online public lecture, spoke about her personal and professional experience in psychiatry and an often neglected issue: informed consent with students.

The prevailing psychiatric paradigms often shape coercive treatment, which is directly reflected in the ignorance of the most basic ethical principle – informed consent. The meeting discussed mental health – not as a system of surveillance and compliance, but as a phenomenon of trust, autonomy and mutual support.

It is noteworthy, that at the meeting Cathy Wield also made the presentation of her the book “The Inappropriate Mind: A Doctor’s Story of Trauma, Liberation and Healing”.
