The Governing Council of Kutaisi University is a collegial governing body of the University, the purpose of which is:
- making decisions and developing recommendation(s) on issues related to educational, scientific and administrative activities of strategic importance of the university;
- Promoting the effective operation of the university by ensuring the involvement of the university community and other interested parties in the decision-making process.
The chairman of the board of governors is the rector of the university.
