On September 12, the Institute for Economic Research at the Central European University organized a panel discussion titled “Facade and Foundation: What Drives Georgia’s Economic Growth?”
The event was dedicated to Economist’s Day. The professional holiday of Georgian economists was established in 1999 and is celebrated every year on the second Friday of September. The date commemorates the publication of the first Georgian economic journal, “The Economist of Georgia,” in 1918.
Participants of the event included economic researchers, practicing economists, government representatives, and academic staff from various universities.
During the discussion, the key challenges and opportunities for Georgia’s economic development were reviewed, along with the role of structural reforms, the investment climate, and the international context.
