The group consisting of Professor Dr. Harald Pechlaner, his research assistant Christian Nordhorn and 17 postgraduate students of tourism stayed here for 2 days. This was Prof. Pechlaner’s second visit to our city. For three years he cooperated closely with Kutaisi University on European Union’s “TEMPUS” program, in particular project WeNeT. This cooperation still continues very productively in the field of tourism. During his first visit Professor Pechlaner was so impressed with Kutaisi’s tourist attractions and Imeretian hospitality that he included Kutaisi environs (Bagrati, Gelati, Motsmeta and Staplia) in his Grand Caucasian Tour (North Caucasus – Adygeya Republic, Armenia, Western and Eastern Georgia) wishing for his students to see and appreciate the beauty and majesty of these unique sights. The meeting with the foreign guests was held in the university conference hall. The rector, Prof. Lela Kelbakiani and Prof. Pechlaner welcomed the audience. The students of Kutaisi University had a chance to get to know their peers from Germany and share their views on future joint research projects in the field of tourism. The guests showed great interest in the exhibits of the University museum and the history of KU. The German university presented our museum with a valuable archeological souvenir – imprint of a fish fossil skeleton on a stone dating back 15 million years.

On September 13 Kutaisi University hosted a delegation from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Bavaria, Germany).
